WEDNESDAY DAY 01 BANGKOK - BAGAN (-, -, -) Upon arrival at BAGAN airport by Thai Airways International (operated by PB Air), you will be welcomed by your Asian Trails English speaking guide and transferred to your hotel.
After lunch (to your own account), bike cross-country through small lanes and walkways to MIN NAN THU village. The village is near the unusual sights of the TAYOKEPYAY TEMPLE, PHAYA THONE ZU and NANDAMANYA TEMPLES noted for exquisite murals of 13th century. You will have the opportunity to explore these temples unless you prefer biking through the countryside to further off the beaten track temples and pagodas. See the KYAT KAN CAVE monastery, a famous meditation retreat in Bagan on the way. Dinner is to your own account and overnight stay at Tharabar Gate Hotel (***, Superior room) or similar in Bagan.
THURSDAY DAY 02 BAGAN (B, -, -) After breakfast, your bicycles will be ready for your two days biking tour through OLD BAGAN and the surrounding region. First you will bike to the nearest small town of Nyaung OO to+ visit the local market. Go to old Bagan on the historical roads overshadowed by magnificent trees and commence with the visit of the most important temples and pagodas. See the SHWEZIGON PAGODA, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; KU BYAUK GYI, a temple with superb murals of Jataka scenes and ANANDA TEMPLE with four standing Buddha images.
Lunch is to your own account. As it gets very hot in Bagan at noon time we recommend returning to your hotel for a rest, but the choice is entirely up to guests’ preferences.
In the afternoon, bike to MYINKABA VILLAGE where you have the possibility to visit one of the famous lacquerware craftsmen’s workshop and experience the bustling activities of the village. See the MANUHA TEMPLE, built in the Mon style in 1059 and follow on to NANBAYA TEMPLE, a unique sandstone monument said to have been the place of king Manuha. Choose one of the more off the beaten track pagodas to climb on top and view the sunset over the plain of Bagan dotted with more than 2,000 temples. Return to hotel by bike. Dinner is to your own account and overnight stay at Tharabar Gate Hotel (***, Superior room) or similar in Bagan.
FRIDAY DAY 3 BAGAN - THANDWE (B, -, -) After breakfast, visit some further pagodas such as the SHWEGUGYI TEMPLE, SULAMANI and DHAMAYANGI TEMPLES all of which are located in Old Bagan or if you prefer venture out by bike to some of the local farming villages. Return to hotel by bike.
After lunch (to your own account), you will be transferred to the airport to connect direct domestic flight to THANDWE.
Upon arrival, transfer to hotel (provided by hotel) and rest of the day at your leisure in Ngapali Beach.
Both lunch and dinner will be to your own account. Overnight stay in Ngapali Beach.
Important note for all biking tours in Bagan: Main roads in the Bagan area are paved but some of these are in rather bad condition and can be heavily pot holed. Besides the main roads travelers will bike on lanes that are not paved, partly sandy and dusty at all times.
SATURDAY – THURSDAY
DAY 04 - 09 NGAPALI BEACH (B, -, -)
After breakfast, enjoy the sea, sun and sand – swimming, snorkeling or leisure strolls along the ocean. Board a boat to explore the offshore islands (available at hotel) or rent a bicycle for a trip to the fishing villages and colorful markets nearby. Watch the breathtaking sunset above the ocean.
Both lunch and dinner will be to your own account.
Overnight stay in Ngapali Beach.
FRIDAY
DAY 10 THANDWE – YANGON (B, -, -)
After breakfast, day at your leisure until transfer to the airport for return flight to YANGON.
Upon arrival, transfer to international terminal for your departure flight or to your hotel in Yangon.
